Day 8 - May 25th

Today was probably the most uneventful day so far. We spent the morning writing e-mails, reading and napping. We also got to study some more Russian. Today we learned how to say "hello", "very well", "bye" and "how are you". When we got in the car for the baby house, we practiced our new skills on Dinara, our interpreter, but our pronunciations aren't very good yet.
While waiting for the babies, two other American families came in. It was fun finding out where they were from and seeing the babies that they were adopting.
Once Katie was brought out, we found a quiet spot outside to visit. It seems like her bottom teeth are bothering her right now; all she wanted to do was chew on her book or Daddy's finger. After lots of chewing, she got a little fussy, then fell asleep again. Either way, we still get to be with her and it's lots of fun when she wakes up and sees us there with her. We only wish she didn't have to ware hats all the time.
After the daily visit to the baby house we came home and enjoyed a nice walk in the park across the river from our apartment. The park consists of not only trees and pathways, but also plenty of amusement rides and food vendors. (It kind of reminds us of the Boardwalk back home, except with trees and a river instead of a beach and the ocean.) Today was also a graduation day for all the school children. It was fun watching them walk around the park in their ceremonial Russian outfits with blue sashes over one shoulder.
The rest of the evening we plan to spend enjoying a nice dinner and perhaps even a movie. We hope everyone back home had a wonderful day as well. Thank you for your continual prayers and e-mails!

One of Katie's favorite toys is the camera; she almost got it!

Thanks for my book, Kylie; it feels so good on my new teeth!
