Day 36 - June 22nd

It was a mellow day here in Kazakhstan as we enjoyed lounging around the apartment and taking another nice walk in the park. During our walk today, we were able to take our time and try some new paths we hadn't previously explored. It was great finding all sorts of things, like the carved characters pictured below and quiet trails through the woods. We've found that going in the morning is the only way to do it. Once noon hits, all the vendors come out and the crowds start up, then by evening, all the night clubs open (there are about 20 to 30 little open-air restaurant/clubs in the park).
Bath time was also a fun experience today. Katie learned how to splash and got really excited at how she could get everything (and everyone) soaked. We are continually learning that no mater what mood she's in before, a bath will always make her happy.
We continually think about and pray for all of you at home. We hope your summers are off to a great start. In a little over a week we should be arriving home! Please continue to pray that God will work through the process of getting Katie's passport and other documents arranged so that we can make our flight next Thursday. We hope to have more of an update on this tomorrow as our coordinator is supposed to come by with the latest news.

Katie had fun waving at boys on the train...

and they had just as much fun waving back

There are many characters carved out of wood in the park

We wonder if these ones are from Snow White

One of the many areas in the park where vendors
sell everything from cotton candy and ice cream
to turns on a bathroom scale (apparently no one
owns their own scale, so if you wonder about your
weight, you have to go to the park to find out)

This was the goofiest of all carvings
