Day 21- June 7th

It was another hot day in Astana! Today it hit 95, and we had to be outside for visiting, so we found a nice bit of shade and laid down for some leisurely fun. At first, Katie was so mellow. It looked like she had just woken up from her nap because we could see the sleep lines on her face. After a while (and a new toy to play with) she perked right up and spend the rest of the day smiling and laughing instead of taking a nap. This was a good thing for us since they told us today that we are not supposed to let her sleep. (We don't think they realize that she has fallen asleep every day at 3:00 since we started coming.)
Another highlight of the day was getting to finally do Katie's footprints. We brought a baby-safe ink pad (thanks, Joy!), some baby wipes and a piece of paper. Amazingly, Katie didn't fuss, but she also didn't seem thrilled. All in all, she seems to be getting used to Mommy and Daddy doing "strange" things with her.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. Since it was so hot, we decided to stay inside. We did get a chance to practice responding to questions for our court date tomorrow. We are hoping to get a friendlier judge than Jen and Jesse got, but even if we don't, we are confident that Erken and Dinara will get us through with flying colors (not to mention God's orchestrating). If you remember, please pray for us on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. PST.

Look at Kaite's new dress! Thanks Gramma

We also gave Katie a new toy today; she really liked it

She was very playful

Katie thought Mommy made a comfy seat

We wanted to get footprints of Katie, but she wasn't too excited

"Oh boy! Why are they putting ink on my feet?"

The final product

Footprints can be tiring

One last bit of fun before saying "goodbye"

Another sad departure (it looks like Katie is waving again)

On the way home, we saw these camels getting ready for a show

Notice the traditional Kazakh blankes draped over them
