Day 13 - May 30th
Praise God! Because of the cold weather today, we got another chance to be inside! It was such a treat, especially since we didn’t get to see Katie yesterday. Although we were not in the same playroom as last time, we really enjoyed ourselves and had tons of fun rolling on the floor and playing with toys.
Now that we’ve been inside two different times (and have thus been able to take her hat off), we are starting to realize that Katie’s hair is not as dark as we first thought. Many times, it looks brown and sometimes, when we review the pictures, we would swear that it even has hints of red! This is so surprising for us because we had been told that Katie would most likely have strong Asian features and darker skin. On the contrary, Katie is very light-skinned with soft, brown hair. It is fun speculating together about what she will look like when she grows up.
Besides the time at the baby house, another highlight today was getting some important documents notarized. The papers allow Erken, our coordinator, to begin advocating for us on application forms and in the courts so that we can begin legalizing our adoption in this country. Our friends Jen and Jesse have signed these forms and are awaiting their court hearing later this week (today was the last day of their 15 day “bonding period”). We will finish our 15 days on Friday and are hoping that the court hearing will be scheduled for the beginning of next week. Please help us in praying that the court hearing will take place as soon as possible since we have to wait another 15 days after that to return home.
